The ocean sustains all life on Earth, yet it is in crisis. Scientists estimate that around €150 billion is needed every year to restore ocean health, while 98% of this funding gap remains unmet.
That is why we created Ocean Beer: a great-tasting beer that makes it easy for anyone to contribute to ocean conservation through an everyday choice.
Fully owned by the Ocean Born Foundation, a certified non-profit organisation, Ocean Beer donates 100% of its profits to projects working to protect and restore ocean health. Since 2021, Ocean Beer has already helped fund more than €500,000 in high-impact marine conservation projects around the world.
And now, Ocean Beer is making waves in France. Following its French launch in 2026, it is already available in more than 200 locations across the country, from shops and supermarkets to bars and restaurants, making it easier than ever for people across France to enjoy a beer while helping protect the ocean.
Every Ocean Beer is more than a drink. It is one small gesture that helps create a much bigger wave of change for our ocean.
How Does Your Beer Protect the Ocean?
Ocean Beer was born from a simple but bold idea: to turn every beer into real, measurable ocean action.
So when deciding how to donate our profits, we don’t just chase the trendiest or most glamorous projects: we focus on initiatives that deliver the most concrete impact on ocean health, balancing global projects where funds are most needed with local actions that create visible change on our shores.

Deploying Marine Protected Areas around the world
50% of Ocean Beer’s profits fund Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) — one of the most effective, science-backed ways to restore ocean ecosystems.
Thanks to our partnership with Blue Alliance Marine Protected Areas, every Ocean Beer sold protects a portion of ocean for one year, in some of the world's most biodiverse and threatened regions: 210 m² for a 33cl bottle, 320 m² for a 50cl can, and 480 m² for a 75cl bottle. The successful recovery of these marine ecosystems is evaluated and independently certified by experts from the Foundation of the CNRS.

Restoring ocean health along France’s coasts
The other 50% of Ocean Beer’s profits support local ocean protection and restoration initiatives in France, where the beer is brewed and enjoyed.
Each year, with the support of the Ocean Beer community, we select local projects recognised for their scientific credibility and measurable impact on marine life and French coastal ecosystems.
Following Ocean Beer’s French launch in 2026, the first project selection session will take place at the end of the year.

Craft brewing at la Brasserie des Sources
Based in the Hauts-de-France region for the past 30 years, Brasserie des Sources is recognised for the quality of its brews, awarded internationally. It was notably named best brewery in Europe in 2016 for its innovation and the excellence of its beers.
Beyond its brewing craft, what made the choice obvious was its environmental commitment: in 2024, Brasserie des Sources undertook a major modernisation of its facilities to drastically reduce the carbon footprint of its brewing. Solar panels were installed, providing full energy autonomy during part of the year. Spent grain, until now largely under-used, is now methanised and feeds the local grid with 100% renewable green gas. Reusable bottle lines have also been integrated to cut down on packaging at the source.

On this new label, every square represents one Ocean Beer, one gesture for the ocean. On its own, a single action can feel small, but together, these actions add up to real, meaningful change.
In fact, if every beer sold annually on the planet were an Ocean Beer, we could single-handedly fund the protection of 30% of the ocean — the United Nations’ goal for 2030. It’s ambitious, of course, but it shows the power of collective action when millions of people make a small move in the same direction!
