Protecting the ocean,
one beer at a time
Brewed to Protect the Ocean

The ocean sustains all life on Earth, yet it is in crisis. Scientists estimate that around €150 billion per year is needed to restore ocean health. Today, 98% of that funding is still missing.
That is why we created Ocean Beer: a great-tasting beer allowing anyone to contribute easily and yet concretely to ocean conservation in his everyday life.
Ocean Beer is fully owned by Ocean Born Foundation, a certified non-profit organisation that donates 100% of its profits to organisations working on the front lines of marine restoration.

How Does Your Beer Protect the Ocean?
Ocean Beer was born from a simple but bold idea: to turn every beer into real, measurable ocean action.
So when deciding how to donate our profits, we don’t just chase the trendiest or most glamorous projects: we focus on initiatives that deliver the most concrete impact on ocean health, balancing global projects where funds are most needed with local actions that create visible change on our shores.
Deploying Marine Protected Areas around the world
50% of Ocean Beer’s profits fund Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) — one of the most effective, science-backed ways to restore ocean ecosystems.
Thanks to our partnership with Blue Alliance Marine Protected Areas, every 44cl Ocean Beer can sold protects 280m² of ocean for one year in some of the world’s most biodiverse and threatened regions. The successful recovery of these marine ecosystems is evaluated and independently certified by experts from the Foundation of the CNRS (Europe’s largest fundamental science agency).

Restoring ocean health along the UK’s coasts

The other 50% of Ocean Beer’s profits support local ocean protection and restoration initiatives in France, where the beer is brewed and enjoyed.
Each year, with the support of the Ocean Beer community, we select local projects recognised for their scientific credibility and measurable impact on marine life and United Kingdom’s coastal ecosystems.
Following Ocean Beer’s UK launch in 2026, the first project selection session will take place at the end of the year.
Brewed locally in Hull, Yorkshire
Every Ocean Beer enjoyed across the United Kingdom is brewed by Atom Beers, a family-owned brewery located in Hull, on the Yorkshire coast.
Rooted in a historic port city, Atom carries the identity of a place shaped by the sea and the communities that depend on it.
But our common anchorage with the ocean is only one of the reasons we chose them. As their name suggests, Atom was founded on a scientific approach to brewing, combining precise measurement, evidence-based refinement and constant quality control with bold, expressive flavours. It's a mindset we recognised immediately, because measurement, evidence and rigour are also at the core of the ocean conservation work we fund.
Distributed sustainably
For the launch of Ocean Beer in the United Kingdom, we partnered with Halstings, a commerce and distribution company built around a single mission: to make ethical and sustainable products the ones that succeed on the shelves. Their approach aligned naturally with ours, and their retail network gives Ocean Beer a route to market that stays true to what the brand stands for.
