Local Projects we Fund

A growing map of impact
Since our creation, we've donated over €500,000 to 35 initiatives around the world, each contributing in its own way to restoring ocean health. In our early years, the focus was global: projects were selected worldwide, wherever the ocean needed it most.
As of 2025, we decided that half of our profits would be dedicated to funding conservation and restoration projects in each country where Ocean Beer is brewed and sold. From cleaning up a stretch of coastline to protecting a nesting site or restoring a seagrass meadow, these initiatives aim to bring visible change to the shores closest to our community.
For this local half, we've also introduced a community vote. At the end of each year, the Ocean Beer community will decide which projects get funded, so the people making our impact possible also get to shape it.
Harnessing the Power of Giant Kelp 🇳🇦
This project involves studying a robust kelp forest in Namibia to understand the ambient factors that determine growth, carbon sequestration, nutrient composition and water filtration capacity of the plants. Such data could eventually lead to the first ever offshore kelp cultivation methodology and certification standards for kelp-based blue carbon credits.
