Ocean Beer is now available in over 80 stores across France

We are incredibly excited to see Ocean Beer expanding fast across France! Already on the shelves of many Coopérative U and Cabesto stores, the brand will reach many more locations and retailers over the summer.

For a foundation-owned beer that gives 100% of its profits to the ocean, this is quite a huge milestone!

Why a beer for the ocean?

Ocean Beer started with a bold idea: the ocean is one of the most important life-support systems on Earth, and one of the most underfunded when it comes to protection. Could a beer help change that? A slightly crazy idea, maybe. But a good one.

Since launching in 2021, Ocean Beer has helped fund more than €500,000 in high-impact marine conservation projects around the world. Every beer sold supports vetted initiatives working to restore ocean health — from protecting most threatened marine ecosystems worldwide to backing local conservation action in the countries where Ocean Beer is brewed and enjoyed.

How does the model works?

The model is simple: brew a genuinely great beer, and use it to channel money back to the ocean. That first part matters to us. Ocean Beer has to stand on its own: a beer people choose because it's genuinely great tasting, not out of goodwill for the mission.

The same thinking applies to the price. The money going to the ocean doesn't come as an extra on top of what people pay — if it did, donating directly would make more sense than buying a beer. Instead, the impact is built into the product itself: every actor along the supply chain, from brewers to distributors to retailers, plays their part in keeping Ocean Beer accessibly priced while maximising what flows back to the ocean.

What's next in France?

Seeing Ocean Beer on more and more shelves means this idea is reaching more people — more people discovering that a simple choice, like which beer to pick up at the store, can help fund real ocean action.
