Protecting the ocean, one square (meter) at a time

What can one Ocean Beer do for the ocean? On its own, it might not seem like much. But when thousands, millions or even billions (who knows?) of people make the same small choice, the potential becomes enormous. That idea sits at the heart of the brand's new packaging, launched early 2026.

Where the design idea came from

Ocean Beer is fully owned by Ocean Born Foundation, a certified non-profit that donates 100% of the profits from its sales to organisations working on the front lines of marine restoration. Thanks to our partnership with the NGO Blue Alliance, every 33cl bottle sold finances the protection of 210 m² of ocean for one year.

It is a powerful model, and one that definitely deserved to be told directly on the product itself! So we briefed Live Agency to reimagine our packaging around it, and they came back with a simple yet incredibly powerful idea: a label made entirely of squares, each one representing a bottle sold, and the surface of ocean it helps protect.

Alone, just like our daily individual actions, each square might seem insignificant. But when they add up by the thousands, they start to form something much bigger: a real wave of positive change for our ocean.

The power of collective action

In fact, if every beer sold annually on the planet were an Ocean Beer, we could single-handedly fund the protection of 30% of the ocean, the United Nations' goal for 2030. Ambitious, of course, but a striking illustration of what would be possible at scale!

That's the spirit behind Ocean Beer: more than a drink, it's a community in which anyone can contribute their own small drop and help build something much bigger for the ocean.

Every square counts

The scale of the ocean crisis can feel overwhelming. Ocean ecosystems are under pressure from climate change, overfishing, pollution and habitat destruction, while the funding available to protect and restore them remains far below what is needed. It is easy to look at the size of the problem and wonder what one person can possibly do.

The squares are our answer: you don't have to solve the entire problem yourself. You just have to add yours!
