Our Partnership in the Canary Islands

Ocean Beer x Isla Verde Brewery

Welcome to the Canary Islands where Ocean Beer is brewed locally, consumed locally - and we donate 100% profits to local ocean health initiatives. We like a local & circular story that simply makes sense.

Choosing to produce Ocean Beer in Gino de Reuwe’s microbrewery which he started in 2009 was a no-brainer because we share the same love for our blue planet - and for premium quality, sustainable beer.

Here are some of the actions taken by Cerveceria Isla Verde:

  • Fully powered by renewable energy to reduce carbon footprint.

  • Local ingredients to support the island economy and cut transport emissions.

  • Water-saving and heat capture systems in place across brewing operations.

  • Spent grain reused by local farmers — zero waste.

  • No single-use plastics anywhere in production or packaging.

  • Active supporter of ocean and island conservation efforts.

From Local Brewing to Local Impact

The first profits from Ocean Beer in Canary Islands were donated to Asociación Medioambiental Pelagic Life Canarias Europa, supporting their ongoing efforts to establish a large Marine Protected Area around Tenerife. This initiative focuses on safeguarding cetaceans and other pelagic species in one of Europe’s most biodiverse marine regions.
